Scott German, CPA President/Managing Shareholder
Scott A German has been with Fechter & Company as a principal since 2009. Mr. German brings his practical experience providing outsourced controller services to a wide variety of clients. Mr. German has held successful financial management positions with construction and non-profit organizations. Mr. German entered the practice of public accounting 1985 with the international accounting firm KPMG. Mr. German graduated in 1985 from California State University at Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, concentrating in Accounting. Since entering the profession of accounting Mr. German has volunteered with various organizations including United Way, Sacramento Tree Foundation, California Hospice Foundation and St Francis Elementary School. Mr. German spent time as a member of the Board of Directors for both the California Hospice Association and the California Hospice Foundation where he served as the Treasurer.
Joanne Berry, CPA Manager
Joanne Berry joined Fechter & Company specializing in audits and accounting consulting. Mrs. Berry began working in public accounting in 1998 with the international accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLP. Mrs. Berry has held successful financial management positions with biotech and energy organizations. Her experience includes the following: Mrs. Berry graduated in 1997 from California Polytechnic Institution, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, concentration in Accounting.
Sandy Sup, CPA Manager
Sandy Sup joined Fechter & Company as an audit manager specializing in government and non-profit audits. Mrs. Sup began working in public accounting in 2001 with Gallina (formerly Bartig, Basler & Ray) auditing primarily government entities. She has audited 28 of the 58 counties in California as well as numerous cities and districts in California and Nevada. Sandy also served as a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) that is responsible for awarding the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for more than four years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from California State University, Sacramento and has been licensed as a CPA in California since August 2004.
Michael Fink, CPA Manager
Michael Fink started his career in public accounting with Fechter & Company in 2017. Since that time he focuses on audits of government and non-profit agencies. He previously held successful financial management positions with tax planning, estate planning, and manufacturing firms, focusing on company growth and compliance monitoring. Mr. Fink graduated in 2012 from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, concentration in Finance and Accounting. He obtained his Certified Public Accountant license in 2021 and is actively seeking to expand his knowledge and proficiencies through continuing education.
Lamar E. Edwards, Manager
Mr. Edwards joined the firm as a Principal specializing in Audits of Healthcare Organizations, Single Audit Compliance audits and audits of federal and state grant programs. Mr. Edwards also helps for profit companies implement processes to fully utilize tax credits under the Enterprise Zone and WOTC programs. Mr. Edwards currently specializes in: Mr. Edwards received his Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from California State University of Sacramento. Mr. Edwards is currently working on his CPA license.
Aprill Watson, Senior Auditor
Ms. Watson joined the firm and brings with her over six years of project management and internal auditing experience with her. She was previously employed by a Fortune 500 financial services company where she was responsible for the oversight and execution of regional compliance, regulatory requirements and procedural processes. Her various duties required her to ensure that all projects were completed on time and all reporting completed without errors. By utilizing her project management knowledge she was able to integrate resources from various areas to achieve all goals as outlined. Her most recent position as the Quality Improvement manager involved directing and participating in compliance audits, ensuring that the procedures in place were compliant with state guidelines and implementing corrective measures when procedures were out of compliance. Ms. Watson obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Golden Gate University and her Master of Business Administration focusing on Global Management from the University of Phoenix. She is active in her community volunteering with United Way's Emerging Leader program and as an arbitrator for Arbitration Forums. She is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for a local foster youth and helps ensure that the youth's needs are met.
